Scored those Tomei/RS*R extractors for Y3,000 (approx $40-$50AUD). Another $300 on top of that will get them into the country

Seriously, you cannot get them new for that, let alone made locally.

Second-hand properly-adjusted TRX S3 handbrake shoes with heaps of meat on them, new discs, and a properly-adjusted cable (Read: maxed-out adjuster!).

I wouldn't rely on it for skids, but it seems to hold the car just fine. The ratchet is at full-extension, though.

I had a closer look at the "adjustment" on mine & all they did was put a nut behind the central pivot to take out as much slack as possible. Like you said it holds on a hill, but it's full ratchet (which I can't actually do strapped into the Bride seat). Who needs a handbrake at the track anyway, a rock works just as well in the pits.

Yeah, I never use it in the pits anyway. Given the heat, it's possible to weld the shoes to the drums if you're not careful.

That's actually quite funny to witness but annoying to have happen to you!
