Candellan it seems this car still has some better times than your new SR20det one is able to do?

Interesting engine,
Does he have a piston ground cooling?

The differences of the S12 CA20E (?) block interest me to the S13 Ca18det.
Are the differences known to you, have they already compared them? (apart from bore and stroke)

This car is now up for grabs here - http://s12silvia.com/community/index.ph ... vegas-qld/

Datso: Yeah the Green Machine is still in development with no steering or suspension setup, only just has the SR rebuilt. It should do under 60 sec at Lakeside with ease.

Katsumi: No under piston cooling. It's never been an issue. Oil temp runs at 90degC. The only problems have been cheap pistons breaking ring lands, which was cured by using ACL pistons. Other than the obvious bore & stroke differences, the front of the CA18DET block is different where the twin cam timing belt idler pulley goes around the water pump, it's missing on the SOHC block, also larger diameter & depth of the head bolts.

How long since the pistons were done, When was the last time it was run, apart from no rear seats/coil over rear end, what else is stopping roadworthy? Got a mate who might be interested. THanks

New pistons installed May 2009. The engine was last run in Feb 2010 when the Green Machine arrived. The roadworthy issues are mainly to do with what front suspension/brakes you want to run & the that I've added extension tubes to the rear shock mounts. Also needs a new spedo cable. Everything may be covered with engineering certificates.

Well spotted. It's the original recored with a few rows missing on the left for the intercooler pipes to pass through. Keeps the engine at 80-90degC all day on track or off.

Interesting. I might not need to get a big alloy one after all.

s13 radiators are a little bit bigger aren't they? A new core will suffice for most daily/track/weekenders.
