It's not often a decent resto-mod project comes along, but I think this one will be one of the best I'll ever see.

I'm glad you're keeping it within the true 80's appeal of the S12, Matty. Some people just go overboard.

im usually naked anywayclothes are for rich ppl

Cheers Dean.

I'm trying to keep it as true as possible to the original, nothing over the top. The only change to the body will be the addition of the SE sideskirts, apart from that everything will be original. I have spent many hours reproducing the decal set down to the millimeter, these will be printed out soon ready to put on the fresh body.

I will try and make it to the painter sometime in the next week or so and snap some pics.

I finally got around to checking on the progress of the RS-X...

Where the body has damage the metal is being resculpted back into place, and so far is an awesome job. Looking to use minimal amount of bog on the body. Was nice to see smooth body lines on the car.

Car is pretty stripped at the moment. Most of the rear interior came out to get access to the inner body to knock the metal around. Other bits and pieces are being removed ready for painting.

Primer goes on in the next week, and hopefully it goes into a paint booth not too long after that. I am hoping to be there when the final coat goes on the car.

For those interested, the car is being done by a mate, the same guy who painted the super green R-X.G Silvia

Getting excited.

Planning on keeping it as original as I can for a while. I'm saving to travel the world again at the moment, so am trying to spend as little as possible on it. That is hard though, I can't help putting a little bit more coin into the build Posted Image

Theres no point building a car just to look at it. If your lucky to drive it once a month may aswell burn it.

Couple of minor updates...

Even months after going through the registration process I am still getting paperwork for it. This is the certificate of exemption, and the sticker to go on the firewall to identify it as an imported vehicle.

And I thought I would show my progress on the decal kit I am reproducing ready to go on the car when it's finished. This is months of work, working on it whenever I can, and it is quite accurate as I have been using a whole heap of reference photos. All I need to do now is the SILVIA text and I'm done.

Car is primered, waiting to get into a paint booth. So hopefully not too much longer and it will be done.

Matty.

Holy crap, that car is getting more legit every time you post it. By the way, not happy that you wont be there when I have planned on visiting. I may have to just push my date back further (not as happy) to the end of 2012 before we all die. Maybe I can plan it so that when the world ends I'll be in Australia. That would be fun. lol

Not long now I hope. I keep pestering but haven't got a completion date yet.

Intercooling the CA is one of many plans I have for the car amongst the long list in my head. Will see what I can get done before I skip the country, the rest will have to wait a year or so.

Personally I'd leave the motor as is. Intecooling it would make it like any old DET but leaving it non-IC makes it an S12 DET ;)

I'd use an old ARC turn-flow kit :D

Hard part would be keeping the modified pipework looking 1980's.

As much as I would like to leave it COMPLETELY original, I'm going to have to tinker with it a little to squeeze out a few more powers.

Was thinking of a turnflow style intercooler for it, would work best with the plenum setup. I'm sure I could come up with something for the piping, one thing I want is to keep the engine bay looking as original as possible.
