A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to find and purchase some JDM Silvia factory option fog lights.

About a week ago they arrived at my door.

So, time to get busy doing some work on the car.

Japanese classic, meet Australian icon...

s12_fjholden.jpg

I've been meaning to clean up my engine bay for a long time now. Have never been happy with how dirty it is. Today I made a start on getting this done, I have masked up and painted some bits and pieces. I also took the NISMO brace apart, sanded it all back, and gave it a fresh coat of paint.

engine_bay.jpg

As well as painting the brace it got a new badge...

nismo_brace.jpg

Made a start on installing the fog lights. Had to remove the tow hook and drill some new holes. Couldn't be bothered taking the front bumper off so had to work like a spaghetti armed contortionist in the confined space I had. Only a couple of knuckles skinned.

fog_progress.jpg

After measuring, drilling and bolting everything up I was finally getting somewhere. So they are all bolted up for now, still need to wire them in, but that's a job for another day.

fogs_installed.jpg

That's that. Going to continue cleaning up the engine bay over the next couple of days until I'm happy with it. Will eventually take off the plenum and cam covers and get them licked with a new coat of paint.

And for anybody interested in what's under the bonnet of the FJ holden, behold, 500hp of Chevrolet muscle...

Don't know how the fogs have lasted so well over the years mate! Happy though I think they suit the car nicely.

So I was asked to go out for a small photo shoot and website feature by a guy over at StiffDiff.com

Feature is here: http://www.stiffdiff.com/?p=4253

A couple of photo's:

Went to Showcased...

And this month marks the 25th birthday of the RS-X. Sometime during this month 25 years ago the car was built.

I think beer is in order.

I'm in the process of painting them at the moment, so will post fitted pictures of them once I have them finished and get some tyres on them.

Here's a little hint though, they are period correct wheels and here are the center caps I just finished cleaning up...

Ok then, here they are....

NISMO R6
Lightweight forged wheels produced by Enkei.
15x6.5" +25
Manufactured 07/1989

NISMO_R6.jpg

I bought these from Japan about 6 weeks ago now, had them imported through Jesse Streeter (my 4th pair of rims imported through Jesse now). They were quite the bargain, I think because the paintwork on them was crap. Not to worry, I spent the last few days sanding the rims back, primered them, painted them and clear coated them. First time I've attempted to paint a set of wheels, far from perfect, but I'm happy with them. Added some NISMO LMGT2 decals to them just for that added touch.

I chose these wheels because they are quite unique, I haven't seen them on a car anywhere before, and well they are NISMO and period correct.

Just need to get some tyres sorted out now and then I will fit them up to the RS-X. Fronts should sit nicely, will need some spacers for the rears to push them out a bit and fill the guards. Will figure this out once I get tyres on them.

Equips are one thing, but these are bang-on perfect for the car, and what you're trying to achieve.

Cheers Dean.

As soon as I saw these on the net I had to have them, thought they would suit my build perfectly.

Can't wait to get them fitted.
