Dare I say it, a more effecient driveline setup would help in your case, Kingos.

Who's idea was it to use a one-piece tailshaft?

*Cue standard one-piece tailshaft bashing*

I ask this because I hope A) You have a tailshaft loop, :orly: You like replacing rear gearbox seals, and C) Unsprung weight, and a tailshaft that hits the floor isn't an issue for you.

Yeah, a one-piece shatf is a more efficient way of getting the applied power from the gearbox to the diff, but as I mentioned, a one-piece isn't the best option, for the abovementioned reasons.

Anyways, enough of that.

I agree with you on the reliability issue with the injectors and fuel pump. What may appear safe on a dyno, may not necessarily be ok out on the road, in the real world. SR20s are a bitch when it comes to bigger injectors. The sheer cost of them puts most people off. I'm told RB25DET injectors are a good budget option, but I'm not sure how much more headroom they allow.

What sort of power figure are you shooting for, Jarreth?

Nah unfortunately RB25 injectors are exactly the same as SR injectors at 370cc, also VG30dett uses the same injectors. If you shop around you can get good used 550cc side feed injectors at a reasonable price, I got mine off John at import bits a few years back for $450, and that included collars. He just unbolted the complete fuel rail and injectors off the motor and I unbolted my standard injectors and fuel rail as an exchange.

Cheapest option is a set of s15 480cc injectors, which are very good bang for bucks.

Jarreth its not so much the blacktop verses redtop that gives the s14's more power, its the T28 verses the T25g, (that's why I never even drove mine with the T25g, I ditched it straight away for a 7000Klm s15 turbo)

In the end i decided to go with the one piece. I do have a loop and i do agree
its a little noisey.
Also i totally agree the 9inch is overkill. If i was going to buy a diff from scratch
i wouldnt get a 9inch, but seeing as though its there i may as well keep it.
Rather then spending the time and money on converting it back i'd prefer to
spend the money on a better turbo and chase power that way.

FJ20 S12's came with a one piece tail shaft, i kow because Ash brought one from an import S12 when he did his SR conversion, the only problem is what Umai suggested, it leaks abit of oil from the seals

RB25's im pretty sure came with top feed injectors, so they are a replacement for CA18's, however not for SR20's!

you can buy brand spankiong new 550cc injectors for $550 off NS.com, and if you hunt around, you cvan get some bigger injectors for around the same price!

Wil the rb25 are the side feed style and the rb26 ones are top feed that are a direct replacement for ca18 injectors 330cc and 440cc for the GTR items.

this also copied from a skyline forum:

RB20det = Top feed high impedance injectors. Stock is 270cc. Each injector will pass on about 10 ohms. Each is wired in parallel so that the total return to the ECU is ~10 ohms.

RB25det = Side feed high impedance injectors. Stock is 370cc. Each injector will pass on about 10 ohms. Each is wired in parellel so that the total signal return to the ECU is ~ 10 ohms.

RB26dett = Top feed Low impedance injectors. Stock is 440cc. Each injector will pass on about ~ 2 ohms. Each injector is wired in parallel to the ECU but in Series with a resistor. That resistor passes on about 7-8 ohms. The two signals add up to ~ 10 ohms returned to make the ECU happy.

And we have-
Nissan CA18DET Top feed 370cc
Nissan SR20DET Side feed 370cc S13/S14
Nissan SR20DET Side feed 480cc S15
Nissan RB25DET Side feed 370cc

Yea i agree about the reliability. That is a must when tuning a car for power but daily driven also.
If you look at my AFR its still very healthy, to crack the 180rwkw mark all required (hopefully LOL) will be exhaust, manifold, FMIC, 1 bar boost... I doubt that will lean it so it will be pushing into the 13 bracket up top, so still safe.

Im aiming for just above the 200rwkw, but thats with difrent pump and injectors of course.
For now with Stok turbo, i want the 180rwkw.

Yea also the smart remark about red vs blaktop was just a joke, i relise why etc :) no hard feelings lol.
Alot of people stik RX7 Injectors in SR's.. being a 550cc or 850cc injector, not to bad.

Yeah Wil I agree with you re the side feed injectors, for sr20's. Better to just get them, than muck around with converting to a top feed rail, which by the time you do it wouldn't save you any money anyway. (He He you can tell I haven't had any of my RX7 inectors I sell in stock for a long while, with that comment)

Just make sure the head gastket and tune are up to it.

There's an easy 140kwatw in that setup.

Stick a DE inlet cam in it too.

I hate NS.com, for the most part.
I like the site, its an awesome concept, its large and varied, good sponsors
But the people on it are retarded keyboard warriors who are 17 buy buying a S13 "When i get a job anmd it'll have heaps more power than your waste of time s12, like 400KW"

Haha, You'd waste him, he wouldn't get any traction. I cop sh** all day for the Mitsi because it's apparently not "real" horsepower and Jap crap. I'm the only one who hasn't had to call a tow truck on the way to work ;)

Add another 10% at least to that. My setup is almost identical (if you leave out the MT8  ) and cheerfully makes 156atw at 12psi without making my tuner break into a sweat. If you're prepared to take the risk of a slightly less conservative tune (probably approaching 14:1 AFR, which is a bit lean...), 170atw is allegedly achieveable at around 14psi.
I used to spool, but now I drive a Barina :/

Just had my brothers R32 dynoed.
Cat back 3.5inch exhaust, 9psi, hks pod. rest of it stock, stock cooler etc.
Made 146rwkw on 9psi. healthy RB20DET i must say.
Done at MORPOWER auto and dyno.

Compared my Stock Blacktop SR (had same pod) results to it, i had about 2-5rwkw extra per major rpm increment. So not a lot in it.

Thought i wud post it up anyways. Cheers.

Me and OUTATIME went to the R31 Skyline club Dyno day up at BOOSTWORX. Was good day and im happyish with my results.

Car is as follows-
3inch Exhuast
Manifold
Splitfire Coilpacks
FMIC
13psi
And a awsumo Pod Filter :P

Injectors, Fuel pump, cams, ECU all STOCK

Posted Image
172.9rwkw @ 13psi (235HP), its a really dodgy curve tho, the guy agreed and said it really needs that stock ECU tune to be gotten rid of.

Cheers :)

The car is very light just under 1000kg with how striped out it is

Hahaha quote self

I just was looking at the 2 charts compared

Posted Image

Soon I'll have chart with bigger injectors
It's great watching your car grow up over the years lol
