Alright, so I just bought myself a 1985 Nissan 200sx, 5 Speed, Turbo, CA18ET..

So, I just pulled it out of a field where it's been sitting due to a few problems..

First, and biggest problem.. I really need help with this..

The car has no dash back light, no tail lights, but it does have brake lights, no daytime running lights, no signal lights, and no four way flashers. I checked all the fuses, changed them, etc.. At one point, i changed a fuse for the signals, and they started working! Then I turned the headlights on, and they were no more.. didn't blow the fuse or anything? Then I pulled the steering column apart, cleaned the contacts in the turn signal/headlight switch, and now my headlights won't go down! and the left headlight doesn't work Posted Image

Very confusing, I've been trying to read up and figure out what to check but i'm not very good with understanding wiring..

Other than that, I had to order some shocks, gotta fix the speedometer and do some turbo work (exhaust manifold bolts are stripped, so huge exhaust leak and i believe the gasket between exhaust manifold and turbo is toast..)

Any help you guys can give me would be hugely appreciated! I'm not on a huge budget but I really need a vehicle to get around in!

Thank you thank you thank you!!

If you guys need any more information just let me know and i'll get back to you ASAP!

little black box infront of battery, open that and you will see 4 fuseable links, 2 green, 1 brown and 1 black one... The black one usualy flogs out and blows causing these problems you described... Change it with a known good link or bridge the pins with wire and crimp terminals n she will be fine.

Very common with these cars.

fuseable link, next to battery, check that.

if not, generally such headlight/indicator issues are caused by a faulty indicator stalk.
replacing with a working one is usually the sure-fire solution if you can't clean/bend back the contacts

also, seems obvious, but check the globes and check for corrosion in the light fittings

Hmm.. suppose its gonna be somewhat tough to find an indicator stalk.. and it isnt any of the lights or fittings cause its not just one, it's all and they were working, then everything quit, followed by a headlight and the headlights failing to raise or lower :/

Oh and wouldn't the four ways still work even if the indicator stalk was toast?

I'm having pretty much the same problems with my FJ20E silvia, the indicators, hazards, radio en dash light all stopped functioned at the same time. I hotwired the relay of the indicators (directly from the battery to the relay) and now the indicators work again, so it must be a power issue. I removed the black fuse link and hotwired the two plugs, but it doesn't work yet. Anybody knows what's broken? Thanks in advance!
