Seeing as my car no longer has cruise control, would it be possible to remove that... and put in another switch there? Maybe modefy a secondary dimmer switch for the dash to control the lights movement?

Basicly which wires do what?

I would`nt have a clue mate. thats outta my league lol.

cheers
mike

That's not important ;)

If you can find a switch big enough to fit in the hole for the cruise control switch, then yeah go for it :P

My headlights are stuck up at the moment (problem with the stalk, apparently pretty common)

I was wondering if I wired up this switch to do the sleep eye thing would I be able to make my lights go up and down manually with this switch?

when i did my sleepy eye mod i found a much easier way to do it
without even havin to cut any wires
what you will need:
toggle dash dimmer switch
got this one for around $5 at u pull it (u pull it rules!! :P )
Posted Image
firstly take your original head light control switch out (carefully) and unclip the wires
Posted Image
the next step is to remove the back of both switches. you can do this with a small flat head screwdriver but be careful not to break anything.
Posted Image
then you remove the internals.
Posted Image
once you have removed the internals of both switches its just a case of replacing the dimmer switches internals with the original switches. make sure you put the the backing of the original switch on the dimmer one so that the wiring in the car will clip straight on.
Posted Image
Hold it down for all the way up or down, or release when you want to get the sleepy affect
Bam, instant sleepy eyes :D :D
enjoy

No, he's used the one out of an SGL, which is different to the GL one.

The GL one is still there, and operational, but he's added the SGL one which has been reconfigured to sleepy the headlights.

If anyone wants one of these switches, I've got at least 3 or 4. $5 will get one mailed to you.

I must have found the easiest way yet... I was pressing the button that makes the lights go up and down (because ones faster than the other and so they go out of time, which looks funny. Then I accidentally got the switch stopped in the middle. This stopped the lights and they where in the sleepy eyes position. No mods needed :(

unless you get a switch with 3 positions... however, my dad and i are going to look into a similar way...

have the basic open close with a middle position, so when you in the middle position, you also have this switch so that you can configure it to what you want, cause the way donkey described, youd have to hold it down, to get them up top... (it wont be absolute top as the motors keep going the one way...) so youd always have to try and align it as CLOSE as possible... and may get frustrating :( so once me and my dad start working on this our way ill be taking progress pics and also writing down some progress in my member profile :D

having a middle position would be arcing it like dean said

i still like my idea just flick the switch to stop the light where ever and if the switch ain't flicked the lights act like normal doesn't matter if ya do it the no wire cutting way or cut the pink wires still seems the best way

He was referring to holding the stock switch in the middle. It's only a 2-position switch - Arc territory. Don't do it. Forget he even mentioned it. If you want a wicked fire under the dash, then by all means...

The switch I use is a momentary on/off/momentary on 3-position switch. It works exactly the same as the SGL dimmer switch.
