my parkers and all interior lighting does not work (dash backlight and roof light)

i've checked fuses and globes
no cables seem to be missing or loose

does anybody know if there is a common reason for this fault?
i was told loose connection at the rear lights, but can't find anything myself

could it just be something in the stalk/column?

would really like some advice before i have to do a trace...

The stalk is your best bet after fuses and globes.

Just a matter of taking off the column surround Unplugging it and then taking the two screws holding the stalk in out and it should slide out.

There are prongs that are the "connectors" if they are bent wrong or corroded or for some other reason do not connect, your lights will not work.

Wouldnt be a bad idea to clean out and re-lubricate it while your at it anyway.

Bit confused as to exactly what's not working? Parkers and interior light seems clear enough, but also your dash lighting?

Far as I can remember the interior light and parkers are on a different circuit. Only thing I can think of is that there is a bad earth somewhere.

Did you swap the fuses with ones from good working circuits? (sometimes these blade fuses look good but are f'd)
I hate fat people!!

The parkers are still operated on the same switch / relay as the behind dash "night lights".

Its not that bad a job, takes about 30min when you dont know what your doing :P

now have interior lights working

but rear light in hatch stays on when the hatch is closed...anybody know where the switch/sensor for this is located?

also, common problems with the indicator stalk? i have it out and the points, although worn, look like they should work

anybody recommend bending them so they get better contact? or just clean the contacts and cross my fingers?

well, i cleaned them...
now i've made it worse!!

my headlights are stuck up - headlights still work though
switch on dash and stalk don't make them go down...no fuses blown, so i don't know what i've done...
AND the parkers/dash-lighting still doesn't engage...

perhaps a whole new stalk is in order...anybody got one?

i think this will go off to the auto-elec tomorrow, see if they can't sort it out
