Just wondering if this is the old auto ECU for the gazelle?

If so... i dont need it and it'll free up space for all the extra crap i need.

If i do... then oh well, need to find space elseware.

By the look of the colours of the wires, it's the control box for the head lights.
ECU is on the passanger side.

I know the ECU is on the other side, but what did the auto ecu look like? or were they the one and the same? Coz theres a gold coloured box of similar size in the passenger foot well, which i thought was the light control box.

I think his is an SGL. Thats not for auto or anything as my old pov spec auto gazelle didn't have that.

Does yours have cruise control gadget ? I'd say it the control box for that

yeah i was thinking it might be for the cruise control, but in most cars its mounted in the engine bay.
Is there a vacuum line or cable connected to it?

Christian I thought about that later one of the boxes in an sgl is "timer" control" I think it controls the "delay" on certain electrical things and the other box on the other side is probably the electrical workings for the cruise control. Neither of these 2 boxes is present on the GL's

Gadget its not for the auto in an s12, an s12 has a "dumb" auto, i.e. no link to any computer control.

Thanks Gerry..

So is the gold one for cruise control? Coz i know i'll be able to disconnect that and have no effect on the rest of the car. With the extra ECU and fuse boxes im running out of places to stash them :-s

Auto does have a control box.

It's in the LHR corner of the car near the LHR seat belt retractor on a hatch, and under the RHR quater window on a coupe.

Manual cars have the loom for it, but no box.

Just to confuse more pplz...

After doing some wire tracing, the OD light wire is linked to the gold box. So i think that the cruise and some of the auto are possibly controled by this box.

Either way i hope that linking this wire that goes from the OD light to OD off signal on the ECU that it'll work, when i activate / de-activate the OD.

Another issue i've come accross is that the speed signal from the dash is labeled as being sent out two wires... but is also linked to the illumination wire, and goes to 3 different locations.

So if anyone has used the signal for an aftermarket speedo it'd be great to know wich wires were needed. As the CA18 ECU only had 2 wires, not 3 like the CA20 seems to.

I've heard of some guys using the speedo sender unit off the back of a R31 Silhouette/TI cluster. Apparently this can be used to supply a speed signal to the ECU.

I know that there is a signal sent from the S12 cluster... as there are two wires with "speed" written on them. (thats in the circut type stuff on the back)
I just wanted to be sure that that would be what i need to connect to, to send a replacement signal to the ECU, if i were to use the mechanical connection rather than the digital sender into the back of the trans.
