It all started as a simple sketch...

And developed from there.
It's since had a number of sketches done and planning dimentions, most of which are on my home PC, not my uni mac or work PC.
I have an extencive range of photo's that i've been studying to work out how to strenghten it sufficiently.
I have not baught anything for the project as of yet, but at the end of the year, when qualified and earning 2x as much, there will be sufficient spare $$ to warrent it.
Now own most of the major components, including the shell, engine, gearbox
Bodywork will come first and then the powerplant, then rollcage and prettying up.
Body:
A re-enforeced side body pannels and seam welded body, with a slightly modded Barry Bray's wide bodykit fitted. (so i will be using a hatch as the original shell)
I wont be using his perfectly flat bonnet without headlights, i will be using my contacts at Narva and Hella to get lights slim enough to have a fixed light setup similar to the Silluette race car and uni's vac former to make clear covers that are perfect replica's of the steel ones.
Hopefully the boys here (looking at you dean) can make me up a vented full CF/FG bonnet with the bulge. (see how much clearance i get with the engine first)
I have a MK2 Bonnet now with the bulge to hopefully keep the engine under.
Rear of the back window will have the gas bottle and custom radiator, foam filled solid Tono cover and FG GT wing. Radiator will be getting air from ducts either side and forced out and up by twin thermo's
Rear lights will be modded/custom to fit the R33 tail lights i have sitting in my room, originally meant for my coupe (gabby) but her light housing is to thin to fit.
The tray will be made flatter and fuel tank removed, allowing more room for the second exhuast pipe and suspension.
The powerplant:
I'm wanting is a VQ30det +t (making a tt) with a 350Z 6 speed. With factory forged pistons and rods.
Now sticking with a single GT35
Yes it will fit (been done into datsuns narrower than S12's and S14 in the US) tight width wise, but it fits.
Running off a full gas system with a twin 3" turbo back exhaust all the way to the back. Have contacts that i might be able to shoot up for it to be bent in sections rather than welded... gotta work out their cad system.
Not going to run LPG, going to stick with normal fuel, tempted to run a 3.5" system now...
The IC for the TT setup will be done by works contacts at Air-Radiators, Just have to work out the end tanks, but will be twin inlets at the bottom and single outlet at the top, to the passenger rear entry manifold.
Been tempted to turn to air to water cooling now... will see what happens
Suspension and stopping side:
Going 5 stud all round along with coilovers. 4pot fronts with 2pot rears thanks to the local PBR. (most likely a S15 - 350Z size setting)
R33 brakes all round should do the trick
Hydro brake added of course.
Rear:
There are considerations to use an airlocker system on a patrol rear diff, with adjustable mounts or use a S14-15 rear subframe.
Both have their strong points, but for originality and ability to hold torque the patrol is looking good.
I know that there a LSD's for both and it's the biggest uncertanty that i have.
I have an R33 rear cradle to go in with all the axles and brakes etc
As this will be a track only circuit and drift car i dont want to have to change to many settings between comps.
Roll cage will be fitted once body works are done, to ensure that the cage is not the only thing holding it up. Also i dont want to have to create a custom tunnel (350Z 6 speed is big) around a cage.
Ask and suggest away. It something my missus is probably going to be thankfull for... i wont bug her about it then
