That coupe shell was munted when we got it. The floor was crinkled in a few spots, as was the parcel shelf. It looked a lot better on the outside than the one it replaced, though. I would've re-shelled it again if I had kept it. Did the job for what we wanted.

What made you decide to re-shell it?

All of the above lol plus i want to register it, make a weekender. Bit of rust in this hatch tho. Plan is to spend less then 3k and have a reasonable/driveable registered car :-)
Can you remember what the front steering components were on the coupe? I can't remember if it had any s13/r31 components or not. I don;t think it changed since you sold it.

Sucks you're so far away, gonna need a hand wiring up the new one and doing heater hoses etc

Thanks

Ha ha ha no sorry mate, front bumper is in desperate need of some love tho, got a bit smashed up on the track last outing, whole bottom lip is now completely gone :/

I love the bonnet scoop and that will never get sold, unless it was for trade...H190lsd anyone ha ha ha

Wiring shouldn't be too bad. The harnesses were all out of the hatch shell (Un-touched, and much lighter), as the ones that came with it were hacked to bits. We just spliced the CA18DET one in where necessary. Hopefully that's all still the same.

As for heater hoses etc, find a stock motor to compare it to. A lot of stuff was blocked-off or bypassed. Get yourself a silicone hose kit, and braided line kit for the turbo.

Suspension was pretty basic.

Front:
KYB Excel-G strut inserts.
V8 Commodore cut and compressed springs.
Nolathane swaybar bushes.
Modified Nolathane castor rod bushes.
Camber tops.
Steering arms on the bottom of the struts are from an S12 with power steering, so they're shorter, and give more lock with a non-powersteer rack. I had to run a certain wheel/tyre combo on the front to stop it from scrubbing on the chassis rails. This used to slow the wheel that was scrubbing, and cause it to straighten during drift.

Rear was just aftermarket EF/EL Falcon rear shocks, and cut S12 springs, and a welded 3.7 diff. Swap the whole thing over, as that rear brake setup has a working handbrake!

Honestly, that CA will probably need big-end bearings and main bearings by now. We built it on the loose side of the factory tolerances with the intention of re-building it every season, and to keep it reliable (No seizing or spun bearings). It might be OK, but I don't know how much use the car has had in the last four years. For $140 worth of bearings, I'd recommend it. The rings will be fine. They're new Nissan jobbies, and the bores were well within specs, and just needed a hone to ensure the rings bedded in properly.

I could be mistaken, but apparently it pulled 140kwatw when the first lot of QLD'ers bought it off me. Only mods they did to it were a better exhaust and a fuel pump. My mate (who played a big part in the build) and I were very impressed.

It's only been driven literally a handful of times. The guys that had it before us only used it twice, collectively between two previous owners it never got used. We used three times before i had to move out west. It has sat being started every now and then for the last two years. Thats why I want to get her going again.

I can't have a locked diff or cut springs for rego tho :thumbsdown_anim: in QLD. So all that has to go :crying_anim:

Yeah I remember going in this out at Willowbank when my mates owned it for a while. It fu**ing hauled the little time it was on track. 250hp and 950?kg's was awesome!

P.S. where is this located and what would you want for the shell once you're done? I wouldn't mind stripping the parts that are usable off it for spares.

I'll have to go and have a dig, and find out what it ran on the dyno for sure.

I wasn't surprised at all, to be honest. Pretty responsive for a CA.

I'd be keen on the seat if it wasn't fixed. Let me know before you send anything to scrap and I will try to organise getting anything salvagable off for spares at a price we both agree on. It would be a shame to throw away good parts when they are getting harder to find.

Sparco seat is a fixed back. We've swapped the engine + good bits over to the hatch now, everything is still for sale but we'll keep working on it until it's gone.
