Your escort needs an FJ20ET, not a CA20 mate :)

Hey mate, i have had a bit of experience with the CA20 engine and I am still using it today, BUT the only reason i am is im not allowed to change the engine until off green P's. It will be far more enjoyable/powerful/reliable to go with the FJ20/CA18DET path with the engine swap. Any serious power turbo/supercharge would snap the internals or the engine. Even running low boost could/will see your engine in trouble and cost you more in the long run. Now all that aside i DO love this little engine and if treated right will last you forever, however never expect to get anything over and above a few wheel spins on a rainy night with it.

Hi mate and welcome, I replied to your other topic. CA20E's arn't a terrible engine, rebuilt they are/ would be very good on fuel, a little bit of poke, really suitable for a daily or a really mild hill car. Like alot of people will suggest there is better money spent on later model nissan engines but all comes down to what you want.

Seriously it's a waste of your time & $! :suicide_anim:
Put in a ca18det or an fj20et, the ca20e is good for scrap metal.

People are always looking for front guards & s12 parts, I would look at stripping your s12 & putting the $$$ made into a better motor

Hey mate, Id assume that by you asking for help/advise on doing the swap that you dont have a whole bunch of experience with similar jobs or engine swaps?
I get where your coming from with P plate laws... But in my opinion I have to say I agree with brad in saying that the swap of the ca20 into the escort would be a waste of your time and $. You could part out/scrap the car and motor for some extra coin for a better suited engine package. The amount of work to get a ca20 into your escort would be the same as putting an sr20de in which you would get alot more gain out of and I have seen sr20de go for 500. The engine mounts, gearbox mounts and tailshaft would need to be custom dont and then you still have the wiring issue and the need to upgrade to an efi fuel pump.

Im by no means an expert on escorts but id say that an rs2000 engine would better suit your needs and make for an easier swap. A mate of mine had an rs2000 when he got his Ps, him and his old man rebuilt the motor with shaved head, stiffer valve springs, twin webbers and some extractors... The thing went pretty damn well.

Just my 2c :P good luck with it!
