Gents lets not go into all the ifs and buts.. this is whats happening. The car is unregistered and will be used for skids - burnouts only. It made near on 400hp in my torana - I think it will be awesome...

I see everyone speaking about weight about comfort about legalities... what ever happnened to just doing something because its cool! I have the car sitting there... I have the motor sitting there.

Its stupid to just not do it. Now - I was wondering if anyone has done it and if so what gearbox they used... and what headers... As this is going to be a bunky cheap build but if someone has pipes made engine mounts a drilled box ect.. anything that would help my cause please share it here :-)

Its a Hatch with the interior stripped - a spare c20 and box with extractors and the current motor which is a ca20 also but this thing has literally 1000kms on the top end. New head rebuilt just before it got a sticker and unregoed. Bottom end never got touched though - so rings let a bit of smoke through... So if anyone needs parts everything is for sale to help fund the build...

I literally am thinking I may drill the bell housing or the block and just marry the 5 speed in there straight onto the 308.. im just wondering how we will go about a clutch.. how the hell will I know the right thickness's ect?

Pic of the old girl here...

you'll blow the box in no time with the v8's torque...

good idea mate. if you've got them sitting there and a couple weekends with some mates then why not!?

a 350 chev married to a 9inch diff has been done before. i believe this'll be the first 308.. at least that i've seen!

i'd say do some headers with the pipes straight out the bonnet.. fu** it.

as for the box, get happy with a mallet on the trans tunnel and put a suitable gearbox in there.

good luck!
Parts currently for sale:
Mickey Thompson ET Street Slicks - $400
S12 & S13 Factory Alloys - $100ono /set
Plus loads more spares in my shed, just let me know what you need!

I like your style mate. As James said, a 350 with a 9" has been done before. Don't worry what anybody else says, I reckon the sound of an 8 coming out of an S12 would be awesome. I look forward to seeing some good skids

Cheers Gents, I opened up gumtree and literally can get a trimatic - electronic dizzy and ignition module set of hearders and some other bits and peices for under $300... Might go for a parts hunt over the weekend. Was hoping to literally put an adaptor plate on the box and leave the whole rear end as it is just for the first burnout day and see how we go.

If anyone has seen my other car you will know I do enjoy skiddies! ha!

Literally blew a rod out of a $30k motor its second time out at Gazzanats so I need to build this to keep me occupied. It may take 2 months or 2 years! ha... I will start with motor - extractors and gearbox and then go from there.

There is a small comp at Wanneroo in June so the aim is to reveal the new toy there!

I will upload some videos of the other car later if anyone is interested. It isnt of Nissan bretheren though.

I'd be keen for some parts if you're selling. What have you got?

Um everything except for body panels, electrics, brakes, diff, tailshaft and the 2 front seats are for sale... What is it you want?

Just msg or txt or call me on 0499 699 098 - I can pull the 100kg or so heshin bag of parts I have in the garage.. the motor with the good head will be out this weekend.. The other motor is sitting on the ground... dunno what its like though.

Just tell me what you need or want. If you want some spares come take everything away. Some are good condition some are cracked or worn in interior...

Ok - Car is now for sale... I swapped the motor for a 5L Statesman with a blown box.. maybe not everyones cup of tea but now if I fix the statesman and rego it I can easily get the $3 - $4k I need to get my Chev fixed in my Torana... Having a mortgage and doing this on your own has it's drawbacks.

Call me 0499 699 098 to come view the car.. pics in first post... they are old and car has sat a bit... The wheels are pretty rare 3 peice SSR's They would be worth a pretty penny on their own. Car has just had full top rebuild bottom was getting tired... havent driven it in years but started first go... will probably need some work but dont even bother just put a ca18det in and off you go.

This has the big axled IRS rear on it...

The cars interior is stripped. I have it all but its in varied condition from ok to crap. Paint is starting to fade too...

Probably asking $1000 ono with spare ca20 with extractors.

Cheers Dave.

Video of running about 3 weeks ago before we started stripping it...

To be honest I don't think many of the people on this site are against a project like this. I think the problem is that people sometimes have this idea that it will be cheap and easy to put a v8 into a street registered s12 lol. Since it's a burnout car I can see this actually happening as you can usually get around things not fitting as long as you have an angle grinder! Good luck with it :)

Dude - project is canned... And wheels have been sold - motor has been sold... Shell unregistered and interior stippred in a bag is for sale for $300... Come get it. Project would have been easy - I just would rather spend money getting my torry finished. And someone offered me a complete 308VQ statesman in good nick for the motor that was going in so I took the trade. Im changing that into a manual and going to register it should easily sell it for $3500 where as the 308 motor would have been worth $2000 tops. I will probably try this again in a few years if no one buys the shell. But it will be a Chev.. and it will have snails.

Motor and wheels sold - (Shell is there with dash) and interior stripped in a bag seperately...

Good s12 Gazelle Hatch unrego'd shell let it go for $300 - or will keep it and teach myself fabrication and welding and turn it into a track monster within the next 5 years or so.

Cheers
