about the gearbox for an FJ , i finished putting a GTST r32 RB20DET gearbox behind my FJ, and it fit really well but there is 2 ways
1 swap the bellhosing from the fj to the rb...
or
2 which i choosed to do, cz didn't want to rack the much "loved" fj box
i just drilled the top 2 holes in the rb box to get it to match and got it all in and u don't even
have to cut the taill shaft.
if you after dragin just put rb25 box the strongest boxes nissan made,

There would be a market, but if you want an SR or RB S12 then why not buy one with a CA20 and use that as a base, as soon as you take the FJ out it would make the car worthless, as an RSX.
I agree is you get a s12 rsx with an FJ keep it

13bt is a interesting thought, definitely would be a good conversion, but fuel costs is a bitch.

I did think that is all you needed to make a RB20 box fit
But the bellhousings are different between a RB20 box and RB25 box
You have to mod the RB25 bell to fit up to a SR20 but the RB20 box needs no mods
Thanks, good info wall

that's is true the rb25 are different ( gata make sure if u r lookin for 1 , get the push type not the pulling 1, the later rb25 boxs and different too)
so i guess if u r using rb25 box u r better off gettin the lot in , that's wat i recommed anyhow,
i don't like breaking things in bits ..

Sorry can't agree re the RB20, don't know about the other one. Liam here had an RB20 in his s12 and it didn't really effect the handling negatively

"Rb20 etc throw the good handling of the s12 out....."

oh i was only talking about the rb20 gearbox
not the engine , once u go fj there is no turning back hehhe
but at the end of the day, it comes back to how u ganna drive it? drag, drift or just cruze
in my opinion fj is good for all

Fair enough.
But I wouldnt think putting more weight in the front end is going to improve anything...
Its like putting a v8 in a datsun, yeah it might go fast, buts it not going to handle to well due to the uneven weight distribution, its going to be very front heavy --- understeer.
I like the example of pushing a shopping trolley around with 4 cases of beer in the front of it. its not going to take the corners of the isle's as well as if you had one case in the middle of the trolley.

It is not so much the weight of the 6cyl. It is more where the weight is distributed with a strait 6cylYeah but the RB20 really isn't much heavier than an sr so its much the same really and the VG30's in the US would be a bit heavy I'd say. Its like the RB30 and ca20 R31's. They just beef up the sprimgs for the RB30 ones. Liam had coilovers in his with stiff springs and better brakes.
And the RB20 is a fair bit heavier than the SR

This is in the S13 chassis, but I imagine the basic principles are still the same.
Buying an RB halfcut for 2 grand or less gives you a good set of brakes as well, and leaves money for a front mount and turbo upgrade before you reach the cost of an SR20 halfcut...
And I've driven 200KW RB's with a giant turbo of doom, and thats probably the best drifter I've driven so far.
Given the RB's power:money ratio, it can be a good option, but if you're after the outright best, get the SR
