^ What boost is that on Brian?
Yea it is good to see the engine progress. Especially if you do your own work.
I dynoed mine stock and pulled 129rwkw, put in some time myself and got it up to the 173rwkw... feels good :P

Under 1000kg's....... thats a yummy power to weight ratio :)

I dont know how the S14 weighs under a tonne through?
Given they're heavier than an S13, which is a challenge to get to that weight itself?

Unless you mean brians car?

I wish my car weightd 1000kg with 170rwkw :D
Yea i meant Brians S12.
S13s are only 30-40kgs lighter.

I weighed my S14, got 1250kg taking my weight out of it. From factory they qoute from 1240-1320kg. With 173rwkw that makes it have a WHEEL-power-to-weight ratio of 7.22.
Brains S12 would be around the 6.0 Wheel KW Power-to-weight ratio (based on 1000kg and 163rwkw 222hp) Notbad...

Its actaully very simple to equate the kw or hp power to wieght ratio. I just do them in WHEEL kw power to weight as, Kw's are used mostly these days and wheel power you can get pretty accuratly instead of working out a engine power from percentages from a dyno readout.

For example- A Nissan Micra with 200fwkw that weights 2000kgs = 10.0 wheelkw pwrtoweight.
Just divide the amount of mass you have by the power and you get your figuere.
My old S12, 120rwkw 1050kg... 1050/120= 8.75 :D

This equation dusnt mean your car is going to be fast, but gives a pretty good indication of its capabilities.
Another good mathematical 'thingo' lol i like to use is horespower per Litres.
Work out a engine power (in hp) then divide it by ur literidge...
for example- SR20DET 1998cc 290hp/1.998=145hp per litre

yeah but HP per litre doesnt really work anything out, as theres lots of other things engines are designed for than just going fast.

If you want to work out how an engine ranks engineering wise, you would normally go with horsepower/weight of engine, as the tricky bit is making more power with the same displacement using the same ammount or less steel/alloy to hold it together.
When you remember you've gotta account for how many miles the engine can go before finally going boom, which is not quite so far for an SR making 290HP :D

Not sure where you got that froms,
1340 divide 187rwkw = 7.16kg/KW...
Still pretty damn good.

Na in good old SA P Platers dont have restrictions.. YET :P

Hey guys, now i can finally drive again i was able to get my GTR fuel pump installed and take it for another dyno run.
It was running really crappy when i took it to Jeff at Turbo Tune. (Couldnt recommend him more! seroiusly!)

AFR's were all over the place as was the boost curve.
Initial dyno run showed a hopeless 165rwkw @ 12psi...
With a little bit of boost solinoid piping removed and a timing light to set the timing back to stock instead on mildy retarded we gave it a few more runs and plugged in the laptop to check sensors etc. All was well. Except for the boost controller which was causing major boost spikes and drops as you can see from the dyno chart.

Running only 11psi and without any tuning (stock ECU still) pulled a healthy 182rwkw @11psi.
Im happy with the results as the AFR's were in the low 10's so plenty of head room for a decent tune.

Thanks guys,
:P

I had forgotten to put up my figures from last month...

107.9kW ATW @ 0.8 Bar

Issues revealed were...

Stock T25 Turbo, front seal blown
Intake hose crushing under higher vaccum
Boost leak from pipe pin holes in the welds (visible as oil was bubbling out from them, as well as the mechanical boost controler)
Knock sensor going off tap (most likely broken, going to bypass)

AFR were flatlined (perfect) until speed cut kicked in at 165kph in second, need to get speed signal to the auto to prevent this and have worked out a way of doing it... just have to be sure that i wire it up right :P

Remembering this is an AUTO and that there is now a T28BB waiting to go on, with all those other little issues fixed, Dr Drift thinks 140-150kw is not out of the question.

I just have to clean out the pipes and FMIC, get the pin holes fixed, 2pac the pipes or get coated in something else.

I start getting boost at 1800rpm and can spool up to 3.5k+ @ 0.4 Bar or so bar before i can hear the brakes starting to strain.

In short... My launches are quick... and will only get quicker with the new rubber, the torsen sitting in my bedroom and the issues sorted out :D

Yea on 11psi ud have no problems breaking the 140mark. Im sure in an Auto ur S12 would actaully suprise a few people.
I would honestly love to see it down the strip with the new turbo etc on and running at least a 235 tyre...

Well i posted 147kW on 14psi on friday :P

T28BB a non oil cooled FMIC due to a blown front oil seal and IC piping pin holes welded up all helped.

Dyno sheet will be scanned tonight.

AFR of near 12 the whole time too :P
