As the title suggest as does my username this is my next conversion for the mighty S12..

I saw that there was a thread started a while ago about the same Hybrid, difference is this one is going to take place..

There was a reply in that other thread that the rails in the S13 was further apart and the swap was alot easier..
Just to add the rails in S12 are the same distance as Holden Commo ( measured ) so the motor is possible.. Also i chatted with guy some 6 years ago who had put a small block 350, two speed power glide into his ( i will endeavour to find the photos he sent me) also with a 9"inch

As i just bought my new edition S12 my project will span over the next 6 months.. Keep ya posted..

Specs will be:
Gen 3/ T56 6 speed
4:1 r200 LSd
TWin 3" exhaust with sidey's(block hugger headers)
16" inch rims
Remapped PCM...

Future mods Vortech blower and cooler, 50lbs injectors,Fast manifold, and throttle body..

Cheers LS1S12

When this thing is up and running it will certainly quieten all the knockers I had to put up with when I suggested it

I'll probably end up doing the same conversion eventually.

was there a user here that did the VH45de conversion with success??

if so then the dimensions seem more in favour for the LS1

VH45de

890mm (length)
740mm (width)
725mm (height)

LS1
730.3mm (length)
628.4mm (width)
717.6mm (height)

160mm shorter in length , 110mm narrower, almost 10mm shorter in height..

Cheaper parts more power options and tuners galore...

I applaud you dear sir!

As mates keep saying to me, Owning a S12 makes you do crazy things. Especially when it comes to engine options.

I rekon it'l fit, after seeing how much room the bays really have after I took my engine out quite a few ideas went through my head.

If I didnt have the SR20 in mine I would probably go a 1UZ 4 litre, with a form of forced induction ;)

Looks like you've got it sat nice and snug to the firewall, me likes!

Take a closer look at the firewall , It's more than snug it's gone.

Thanks all :)

Yeah the firewall is gone :) I just make a new one. The engine needs to be as far back as posible to get room for the oil sump. I have even moved the steering rack forward to make place for the sump. This will also give me more weight on the rear wheels, I think i need that :(

this will be a drift car. the engine will be tuned for some more power. S13 coilover in front AND back. Nismo LDS, electrical power steering, roll cage,+++ the list is long..

That rear strut tower looks neat.

I had plans to do this conversion at some point, but for some reason my thread of theories, ideas, and criticism went missing.

Can't wait to see yours finished.

yeah, I was thinking of a fuel cell. but I dont want any fuel to be able to access the cabin (if I crash or something). Sins we dont have a firewall in our trunk its a bit hard to do this. I also want to keep the weight as low as posible, so I might just modify the orginal tank. a new high flowing fuel system is also fu**ing costly..
