Yeah, nah I got it off eventually, it just took more force than I previously thought safe to administer to a car on stands.
all good now, but I think I'll have to remove the drums or something to get the spline out, but we'll see when i get the rest undone.
cheers flypsi :)

Hmm... the bell wont come off the front of the diff...
WTF?
I can lever the top and bottom ok, but the sides reach a point where no ammount of pulling can free them?
thoughts?

*BUMP*
OMFG.... THE FILL POINT...
It was stuck on so hard, that when i tried to open it up, it turned my 1/2" socket drive (cheap super cheap auto kind) into a circle!!!!
Now its partially threaded that the socket drive of my dad sidchrome one (very sexy piece of gear, by the way) kind of lifts out of the point instead of twisting.

Any ideas?
Or am I going to have to remove the entire diff, get the fill point drilled through and re-threaded or something ghey like that?

Never drain oil, if you can't re-fill it :P

You might have to destroy the plug, by removing it with a cold chisel.

$20 for a multi sump plug remover was a great investment when needing to replace my diff then top it up.

Sorry to open up an old thread but having trouble geitting my axles out of the diff to remove the diff centre.

Have undone the bolts behind the drum brake shoes and have undone the ten bolts around the diff centre.

Have been yanking on it and a few more abrasive techniques but no movement.

How do i get them out??

You may need a slide hammer to get the axles out.

The slidehammer we used at work was a piece of solid shaft with a plate welded on 1 end , a cluster shaft out of something big for the slide & it had a piece of angle welded on the other end . you just sit the angle behind the axle flange & away you go.
