Member and owner of two S12s, Jordan Collins, spent much of his time as of recent to work on a school project and as many of us would guess, he did it on the S12 chassis. What makes his particular report stand out was that he was the only one in the class to receive top honours of 100%. Coupled with his ability to present his report, it was deemed that not only was his report the best in the class but that he was indeed one who knew his stuff and was the most engaging. With so much going on in his life as of late, we figured it would be an added bonus for him if we could share with the rest of the S12 community Jordan's report.

Keep at it Jordan and dont give up. Seems that you're doing well so far and with so much more to come. We're behind you mate!

Jordan Collin's Nissan Silvia S12 report

We all know that the Silvia line are much loved in the world of drifting and occasionally we see them drag racing, but unique to the S12 was the fact that it competed in Rally events. And of all the models of the S12 the competed was the SE, which was powered by the VG30E (V6). Finding pictures and videos of S12 rally racing is few and far between but thanks to an avid rally fan and 510/S12 specialist, Mr. 510/David Carroll, we have been able to grab a whole new set of pictures of the S12s doing their thing. And it is our hope that some of the videos taken will be found so we can host them here as well.

Yup, 78 years ago in 1934 on June 1st, Nissan Motor Company was founded after the then Tokyo-based Jidosha-Seizo Kabushiki-Kaisha changed its name.

In 1935, Nissan produced its first car under the Datsun name and began its illustrious history with Australia as it began to export cars there. Later in 1960, Nissan was awarded with the Deming Prize for engineering excellence, which was a first for any Japanese automaker. It was not long until other Datsuns took to the road increasing the company's visibility, allure, and prominence.

As many of us know being Nissan fans, Nissan has accomplished many amazing feats and has proven its name time and time again. Although overshadowed by Toyota and Honda at times, Nissan has proven its worth and has constantly been on the world stage when it comes to its racing pedigree.

By putting the spotlight on the Founders of the many S12 dedicated sites to those who take their cars out on the track and use the car for what it was destined to be for in our Driver's Blog series, S12Silvia.com has grown and is seeking to display the whole of the S12 community in a manner not done before.

With so much success and winning over fans spanning the globe, S12Silvia.com is not stopping as it continues its evolution exploring more concepts all the while aiming at those who make up the community: The User.



It is because of this focus on enabling the user and have each member become a more active force in the creation of S12Silvia.com, we have opened up many new sections within the site while at the same time redesigning the front page so that it displays more information and serves as a more comprehensive dashboard so anyone can gain a vantage point of what has been happening without too much trouble.

With the many users from around the world, the XII Shoutbox feature allows anyone to instantly talk with others in real time. See live updates or carry a conversation with a fellow S12Silvia.com member, the XII Shoutbox is a built in instant messenger for all. In addition, the built in dialogue box on the forum is quite small and can be a bit much to talk on while following several conversations. In order to deal with this issue, we have come up with a setup that allows one to extract the XII Shoutbox into its own dialogue box separate from the Internet browser. What one can do is simply click on the "XII Shoutbox" title and a new page/tab will come up for one to view.



There is much more to come as much is in the works but everything is aimed at the user and enabling you to do more. It has been time that the S12 Community becomes a driving force in how it evolves. Among the many motorsports that exist, the S12 Silvia was quite successful, especially in the world of rally competitions. Nissan's choice: S12 SE model sporting the VG30E. As unusual as it was in a time when typical engine platform was that of a four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine, the V6 was a peculiarity. Yet, despite what disadvantages a V6 equipped S12 would have, it proved to be a worthy competitor as it went on to place first in the 1988 Ivory Cost Rally and second in both 1988 and 1989 Safari Rally. Performing well and with style, the S12 indeed proved to be a capable platform as it finished events that were particularly known for destroying many of the competing rally cars.
