Rivalry

Among the many motorsports that exist, the S12 Silvia was quite successful, especially in the world of rally competitions. Nissan’s choice: S12 SE model sporting the VG30E. As unusual as it was in a time when typical engine platform was that of a four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine, the V6 was a peculiarity. Yet, despite what disadvantages a V6 equipped S12 would have, it proved to be a worthy competitor as it went on to place first in the 1988 Ivory Cost Rally and second in both 1988 and 1989 Safari Rally. Performing well and with style, the S12 indeed proved to be a capable platform as it finished events that were particularly known for destroying many of the competing rally cars.

The Grand Prix

The Nissan S12 Grand Prix.

There is so much about the Grand Prix edition that makes it one of the most sought after versions of the S12. In the past, there was very little known about the Grand Prix as it was native to Europe and the community had but only whispers of what it was capable of. Over the years we have been able to learn so much more and in the past year, S12Silvia.com has had the opportunity to procure the brochures detailing that the Grand Prix was not native to just Germany but of Switzerland as well. Although brief, it was indeed quite a find.

Legends Never Die

Epic Wheel Stand

For the many of us in the S12 community, one name has become legendary: Ben D. He has set the bar as the fastest known S12 in the world and powering his S12? An FJ20ET – the predecessor to the RB26DETT. Clocking 9 seconds in his ’84 S12, Ben indeed provided the opportunity to capture what some consider as the picture that wins the Internet.

Founder’s Blog: Brett Cornelissen and William Chan

Continuing from the initial founding of S12Silvia.com when it was then known as SAS12 (South Australia S12) by Jarreth Rowley, the second iteration of the site focused on the greater Australian community. Recognizing the growing interest and demand by the many Australian users, Jarreth helped both Brett Cornelissen and Will Chan transfer SAS12.org to AuS12.bb2 before he departed.

Under the management of both Brett and Chan, Matt Castle once again proved his worth and assisted the two with much of the software coding. With his suggestion guidance, Brett and Will  transferred the site to AuS12.org. AuS12.org proved amazingly successful and quickly attracted the attention of much more than the Australian community but of the international community.

The S12 Champion

The Nissan S12. The only Silvia to house five engines as options from the factory. Then there was the FJ-powered Grand Prix model that was made available to the markets in Europe. In the States, the SE model sported the VG in its last two years. In Japan, they had the RS-X, powered by the FJ, which was replaced by the CA18DET in its last two years. Not only were these top tier models, they were quite limited and are each highly sought after. Going further, the Full White was known to be the most elusive model produced of the S12 chassis. This can no longer be said as a new model has been found and proving to be just as coveted and most certainly as rare as the Full White: the Champion.

A little known model with even less documentation, the Nissan S12 Silvia Champion is indeed one that will catch the eyes how shown that the S12 was indeed a platform that was far from being the ignored sister.

Founder’s Blog: Jarreth Rowley (SAS12)

In it’s current form, S12Silvia.com indeed had quite humble origins and has gone undergone a significant evolution to what it is today. S12Silvia had three distinct stages in its evolution; each stage reflecting a significant change as the site grew and expanded its reach as membership grew in kind.

In its first stage, S12Silvia.com started out as SAS12.org or South Australia S12, a simple but effective place serving those of South Australia. In its second stage, SAS12 became AuS12.org or Australia S12. Now serving the whole of Australia, the Australian community not only found its footing but also became a hub as its influence grew significantly. In it’s third stage, which happened only a few years ago, AuS12 became S12Silvia.com. A bold move as the site stood on the international stage and became a significant mover within the larger import scene.

Since the unique history and the amount of hands in creating S12Silvia.com, the Founder’s Blog dedicated to the site is not just one but three interview blogs dedicated to each of those who made a significant impact to each stage.

As native of Adelaide, Australia, Jarreth Rowley was a fan of the S12, which continues very much to today. Recognizing a growing need, Jarreth founded SAS12 and the impact of that single action would resound beyond anything he would have imagined.

Sport Car Review – Nissan S12 Turbo

A fairly recent review of the S12 Turbo model that was available in Sport Car Review (1998), it is both concise and balanced in its analysis of the chassis. Even comparing the Turbo S12 to its rivals of the time, the Celica Supra and RX-7 FC, it indeed showed that the S12 hold its own against stiffer competition.

XII / Nissanparts.cc Car Show @ Modified Mag

That is right, S12Silvia.com’s first car show, which was in collaboration with Nissanparts.cc/Mitsubishiparts.net, has recently been featured in Modified Magazine in the States. A two-page spread with plenty of Nissans and Mitsubishis, including the line of S12s, the show was indeed noteworthy and is anticipated in the upcoming months, which S12Silvia.com is signed up for its second year hosting its much successful car show.

Driver’s Blog: Arnaud Lanssens

Dedication is a hard thing to come by these days. This is especially true of the older cars that have virtually no support as many eventually move to newer cars that have more support from both the manufacturer and the aftermarket community. But this trend does not seem to apply to the many of us who are S12 owners. Although Arnaud Lanssens is relatively new, he has shown much dedication and passion for the S12 as anyone can. And as one who drives his car on the track, Arnaud has experienced the highs and lows of owning a car that has been through much.

Arnaud’s story is one we all can understand very well and indeed embodies the goal we all have for our S12… Driver’s Blog: Arnaud Lanssens.

French Canadian MKI S12 Brochure

As many of us know, Canada is mainly a country populated by those who speak primarily English. Yet there is one place that breaks that rule. The province of Quebec though has the largest population of French Canadians and is where much is in both English and French. On a stroke of luck while seeking a French brochure, this Canadian brochure was a great find as it represents another country we have been able to add to our collection of brochures.
