Driver’s Blog: Arnaud Lanssens

Dedication is a hard thing to come by these days. This is especially true of the older cars that have virtually no support as many eventually move to newer cars that have more support from both the manufacturer and the aftermarket community. But this trend does not seem to apply to the many of us who are S12 owners. Although Arnaud Lanssens is relatively new, he has shown much dedication and passion for the S12 as anyone can. And as one who drives his car on the track, Arnaud has experienced the highs and lows of owning a car that has been through much.

Arnaud’s story is one we all can understand very well and indeed embodies the goal we all have for our S12… Driver’s Blog: Arnaud Lanssens.

French Canadian MKI S12 Brochure

As many of us know, Canada is mainly a country populated by those who speak primarily English. Yet there is one place that breaks that rule. The province of Quebec though has the largest population of French Canadians and is where much is in both English and French. On a stroke of luck while seeking a French brochure, this Canadian brochure was a great find as it represents another country we have been able to add to our collection of brochures.

2011: A Year in Review

2011 was an amazing year that indeed lived up to the promises 2010 had made. With an increase in standing among the greater import scene, the S12 has indeed cemented the mark it made in 2010. In addition, S12Silvia.com has made great steps forward within both the S12 community and the greater import/automotive scene.

Formula D Interview: Fredric Aasbo

Following up with S12Silvia.com’s sponsorship of professional Formula D driver Nikolay Konstantinov, we have also been able to grab a moment of another professional Formula D driver for an interview, as last year. This year we had the privileged of being able to work with Fredric Aasbo, the amazingly young and exceptionally talented driver hailing from Norway.

Fredric was a rookie in Formula D in 2010 as was Nikolay Konstantinov, which in much is responsible for the comradery and friendship Nikolay and Fredric share today. Fredric is one of those guys that it is hard to find a reason to dislike him. A genuine person who is as passionate about drifting as he is about life and the community, Fredric is indeed the person anyone could get along with.

But before we digress too far, follow the link for S12Silvia.com’s interview with Formula D’s Norwegian Hammer – Fredric Aasbo…

XII Sponsorship: Nikolay Konstantinov

For the second year, S12Silvia threw its support for professional Formula D driver Nikolay Konstantinov. With many changes to the team, 2011 was indeed a building point for the 2012 season. With a new team, new shop, proper sponsorship/marking backing, new engine, and new livery, Nikolay Konstantinov with his team, NK Racing, started late in the season in an effort to create a promising foundation. With his first event in Las Vegas, NV, mechanical issues brought up on by the extreme heat tested the new build forcing the car into a non-competitive position. After much work and renewing their resolve, NK Racing pushed forth into Irwindale where things began to look quite promising. With the car set and quantification set to go, the LS2 block blew an hour prior leaving the team unable to continue at the Formula D finale. It was a blow as from what Nikolay was able to put down during practice would have indeed not only allow him to qualify safely but also to show that he indeed had refined his skills from 2010.

Unfortunately with the many mechanical issues that plagued NK Racing throughout the season, 2011 was indeed a year that built the framework on which Nikolay could follow through for 2012. Understanding the situation and drastic changes the team and chassis went through, S12Silvia.com is willing to hold out for 2012 season with much anticipation to see just how much Nikolay has improved and indeed show that despite the difficulties and challenges all drifters face, it is the love of the sport that brings us together.

S12 Spotlight: Gustavo Sanchez

Gustavo Sanchez’s story is only a few years old and despite being relatively new to the scene and still learning the nuances of the S12, his S12 has managed to garner attention not just from fellow S12 fans but from other Japanese Classic aficionados. Just a couple of months ago at JCCS in Long Beach, the staff of Japanese Nostalgic Car named Gustavo’s S12 as their favourite 80′s car. It was a great surprise to Gustavo and the rest of us as such a prime example of an S12 was given the honours and recognized by such a knowledgeable audience.

Project S12/26 @ HPI Australia

Continuing its prominent display of what an S12 is capable of, Project S12/26 went international not too long ago. In issue 137 of High Performance Imports (HPI) Colin added his first international full feature to previous bits that were previously only available in the States. Garnering more interest and support for the S12 chassis, it seems as if the S12 not only has been experiencing a resurgence but also coming into its own again.
